ELP aims to help talented higher education professionals acquire the critical skill set and mindset necessary to advance to higher-level administrative positions in academia. The program combines robust in-person and virtual programming that cultivates a comprehensive understanding of important issues, including effective communication, project management, navigating and leading change, and defining a leadership philosophy.

She oversees programs that help students successfully navigate college with strong support systems. One program, Trailblazer Elite (TBE), provides strategic support, leadership, and resources to help first-generation college students adjust to university life.

鈥淎s someone dedicated to supporting first-generation college students, it is powerful to engage in national conversations about the future of higher education,鈥 said Dr. Riddick. 鈥淧rograms like this are vital for preparing leaders who can navigate complex challenges and drive positive change.鈥

ELP held its in-person component June 24鈥26 in Washington, D.C., and interactive online sessions will continue throughout the academic year.

鈥淏eing in Washington, DC, surrounded by the symbols of democracy and policy-making, reminded me how higher education is deeply connected to societal progress,鈥 Dr. Riddick explained. 鈥淚鈥檓 returning to 天美传媒app免费版下载 Dallas energized and equipped with innovative leadership practices. Our students deserve visionary support, and this experience has further ignited my passion for helping them succeed.鈥

Riddick previously served as Director of the McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program, which supports students from underrepresented segments of society as they work toward a master鈥檚 or doctoral degree. Prior to joining 天美传媒app免费版下载 Dallas, Riddick was at North Carolina A&T State University (N.C. A&T), where she earned her bachelor鈥檚 degree and doctorate. She also holds an MBA from Elon University鈥檚 Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.

Through its commitment to deep peer-to-peer learning, ELP gives participants formal and informal ways to build intentional connections with each other, their advisors, mentors, ELP faculty, and the broader AASCU community.

鈥淲e are proud to support our emerging leaders as they grow their skills, expand their networks, and prepare to shape the future of student success and institutional excellence,鈥 Esterberg said.

Cohort members will lead a project or initiative at their home campuses under the guidance of a mentor and with support from a project advisor from the AASCU community.

鈥淭his program reminded me why I do this work,鈥 Dr. Riddick said. 鈥淚 want our scholars to feel empowered to take risks, seek knowledge, and trust that they can shape their own futures.鈥
